YORK
3:35 Ebor Handicap
Fancy Man (Sean Levey)
He ran a very nice race behind Rebel Romance at Goodwood last time and appears to be in great shape at home. He’s very easy to train and just gets on the the job and I think he could be very interesting stepped up to this trip for the first time. He’s a very talented horse and I can see a test like this really suiting him.
4:10 Handicap
Mums Tipple (Frankie Dettori)
He returns to the scene of his biggest triumph and it was great to see him get his head back in front at Newmarket last week, although he’s not been given much respite from the Handicapper who has put him back up another 6lbs. If only they went down in the Handicap as quickly as they go up! We’ve done nothing with him all week and he’s enjoyed plenty of time in our grass pens. Frankie Dettori was keen to ride again and hopefully they can come home in front.
4:45 Listed
Swift Asset (Tom Marquand)
I just don’t think he quite stays six furlongs so we’re dropping back to five and going down slightly in grade. He’s always been a colt we’ve thought a great deal of and he ran very well on his penultimate start in the Super Sprint; a reproduction of that would see him go very close here.
SANDOWN
3:15 Handicap
Gisburn (Pat Dobbs)
He was disappointing at Newbury last week when we thought he’d go well but maybe he found the ground plenty quick enough so any rain that’s around will help his chance, but he’s still plenty high enough in the weights.
4:25
Beautiful Star (Pat Dobbs)
She’s a lovely filly by US Navy Flag who has done everything we’ve asked at home and is ready for a run. This looks a pretty hot Maiden but we like her and hopeful she’ll put up a good show, however, like most of ours, she’ll improve plenty.
Cruise (Cieren Fallon)
Not surprisingly she found Platinum Queen much too good at Goodwood last time so this will be a lot easier and she’s ready for a step up in trip. Her experience will be valuable here and she has rock solid claims.
5:00
Seductive Power (Pat Dobbs)
He’s a very smart colt who wasn’t beaten that far at Goodwood last time on his Handicap debut and the drop down a couple of classes will see him in an even better light. I like him a lot here.
CHELMSFORD
6:00
Bailey Gate (Sam Hitchcott)
He was unlucky not to win last time but still showed a good attitude to finish his race well and he is getting better with each run. It’s only a small field, and it looks a competitive race, but he’s going the right way and I can make more of a case for him winning that not.
6:35
Nanga Parbat (Sam Hitchcott)
He ran very well behind stablemate Seductive Power and subsequent Acomb winner Chaldean on his debut at Newbury and he’s improved plenty since then. The step up to a mile will really suit and he’s probably my best chance of the day.
