SATURDAY

NEWBURY

2:40

Son (Pat Dobbs)

He’s quite closely matched with Haatem on two-year-old form and we all saw what he did at Newmarket in the Craven! I’ve been very pleased with him over the past few weeks and while the ground is a bit of a concern, he stays well, and will definitely get further, so we’ll probably make plenty of use of him over this trip. He comes into this with a solid each way chance but does need to step up.

Sierra Blanca (Sean Levey)

He’s been with us about two months and is impeccably bred, being by No Nay Never out of Oaks winner Alexandrova. We’re still learning about him, but I like what I see, and he’s definitely got ability. He’s won on heavy, so won’t mind the soft ground and he could be interesting on Handicap debut off 100, but we are still feeling our way with him.

Talis Evolver (Joe Leavy)

He showed a great attitude to win at Newcastle on All Weather Finals Day and is 5lbs higher here. The drop back in trip suited him well that day, and I think a mile is his optimum, so he has plenty of ticks in the right boxes and is obviously fit from being kept busy all winter.

Sedgemoor (Pat Dobbs)

He was an encouraging second on debut at Salisbury last August and this sort of track will suit him because he’s a big striding horse who will enjoy the long straight. The step up to a mile will help and I’m hopeful he can run a decent race and finish in the money.

Sheila’s Paradise (Sean Levey)

He’s a nice colt by Havana Grey who has taken plenty of work to get to the track but has really took a step forward over the past month and he’s a nice horse for the future. We took him away to Kempton last week, so he’s had a bit of a gallop, and this is a good starting point.

Waistcoat (Alec Voikhansky)

He’s another relatively new recruit to us and ran ok at Lingfield last time – showing up nicely before getting tired. He’ll have a handicap mark after this and that is probably where his future lies.

4:25

Easy Dancer (Sean Levey)

He’s shown a moderate level of form so far, but isn’t without ability, and the step up in trip will be a plus. That said, this looks quite a good Maiden, and he undoubtedly has to step up.

5:00

Graham (Sean Levey)

He’s a very consistent, likeable horse who always tries his best and is only 3lbs higher than his win here, over a mile and a half, last August. I’m not worried about the drop back to ten furlongs because he likes to bowl along and he’s versatile ground wise. I quite fancy him to go close.

God Of Thunder (Alec Voikhansky)

He was impressive at Lingfield last time and has come out of that in fine form – in fact he worked really well on Wednesday. He’s probably better over further but the likely decent pace will suit and he’s not out of it.
