YORK – WEDNESDAY

2:25

Gisburn (Hollie Doyle)

The ground was very, very soft at Newbury last time and he just didn’t handle it so I’m prepared to draw a line through that and focus on his good effort at Doncaster where he ran well to finish fourth. He still shows plenty of zip at home and is more than capable of picking up a race like this, although he remains plenty high enough in the weights having been dropped just 2lbs since last time.

4:10

Dark Thirty (Sean Levey)

I was delighted with his last run at Newmarket, over a mile, but I’ve got no concerns dropping back to seven furlongs because there will be plenty of pace and he’ll like the long straight. Obviously it’s a competitive race but he comes into this in decent form and has a solid each way chance.

4:45

Mashadi (Kevin Stott)

He’s a colt we like a lot and I must admit I thought he’d win first time out at Newmarket but the race cut up significantly and ended with just three runners so it was quite tactical and he may have just needed it. He was only beaten a head, so lost nothing in defeat, and with that run under his belt, I’m confident of a very bold show.

We have a few runners at Bath who all have chances but I do like Haatem in the 5:40. He ran very well on his first start at Goodwood and will have learnt a lot from it.
