YORK – WEDNESDAY

2:25 G3 Acomb Stakes

Hectic (Pat Dobbs)

He got the job done nicely at Newbury on debut and to be honest we’d have been pretty disappointed if he’d not won because his work has been very good beforehand and he’s a colt we think an awful lot of. This is obviously a big step up in grade, but the intention has always been to come here and we are hopeful he can handle the rise in class in his stride. I’m not saying he’s the one they all have to catch, because he might not be, they look a very nice bunch of horses, and Charlie’s colt (Local Dynasty) was very impressive at Newmarket, when beating one of ours. But Hectic comes here in the best shape I can get him and, judged on the way he won going away at Newbury, the extra furlong here can only be a plus.

5:20 Nursery

Silencer (Cieren Fallon)

We fancied him to go well at Goodwood last time on his first run since being gelded and he very nearly managed it, but just got reeled in on the line which was quite frustrating because he’d done all the hard work up front, but at least he showed what he’s capable of and there’s definitely a decent race in him. He’s up another 4lbs to a mark of 92 which isn’t ideal but he’s a capable horse who seems to have got his act together now and I’m hopeful of a bold show.

We’ve got a few runners down at Kempton where Dingle would appear to be our best chance there. He’s much better on the All Weather and has come down to a nice mark. The drop back in trip is a big plus and he should go well in the Try Our New Price Boosts At Unibet Handicap at 7:20.

We should have plenty more runners at York later this week including Shouldvebeenaring in the big sales race tomorrow. Classic has an entry in the Convivial Maiden on Friday but is also in the Listed race at Salisbury along with Rich so we’ll have a good look at both races and see which looks best. Fancy Man will probably take his chance in the Ebor on Saturday.
