He was a very good juvenile who kept pretty good company and five furlongs on fast ground is right up his street; he is a proper speed ball. Last season didn’t go to plan and he probably suffered a bit for what he achieved as a two-year-old but we’ve ironed out a few issues and he’s had a nice long break. We’ve taken him to Kempton twice and he was absolutely great although did blow very hard afterwards so he’ll definitely come on for the run, but we have at least got him back to his best. He’s not drawn ideally and does have a small issue with the gates but he’s been stalls tested and was ok therefore, I can see him going very close. He’s an extremely fast horse.

You couldn’t help but be impressed by what he did at York in August and I must admit I was absolutely blown away; I certainly didn’t expect him to do it quite like that but he’s always been a colt of immense talent and, considering he was lame after the race where he got a kick from another horse in the stalls, I thought his run in the Middle Park was excellent and the York race may have left its mark a little bit, too. Thankfully everything has gone right in the lead up to this and he’s been to Kempton as well as putting in an excellent piece of work on Tuesday which put him spot on. I don’t think he’ll have any problems stepping up to a mile but we still have plenty of options anyway as we can drop back to 6f for the Commonwealth Cup or go over 7f in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Qaysar (Ryan Moore)
He absolutely thrived last summer and just kept on improving so I’m not sure how much more is left in the locker but he’s fit and well and should handle the ground, although any rain will certainly help his chance under Ryan Moore who takes over for the first time.
5:20 Handicap
Endowed (Ryan Moore)
He seemed to improve for being gelded and ended his season on a high by winning very easily at Kempton in August which now means he’s competing off a career high mark of 90, but I’ve been particularly pleased with his work and I notice that this race carries Ryan Moore’s name so let’s hope he has to present the trophy to himself! I think he’ll go very well in this.
LINGFIELD
Ma Cherie Amour (Pat Dobbs)
She’s a tough filly who will probably get a little bit further in time but this looks a good starting point and if she can manage to win first time out, she’ll be a very good filly but, like all our two year olds, she will need it.
5:30 Handicap
Dragon Sun (Rossa Ryan)
The handicapper’s not taking any chances and he’s now off a career high mark of 82 but he likes it around here and will be much happier back up to a mile. He’s in good form at home and will run a big race.
6:40 Handicap
Bruisa (Pat Dobbs)
She’s a slightly temperamental filly so we have to take things steady with her and we’re keeping the hood on to try and keep her relaxed as much as possible. She has plenty of ability but it’s whether you can get it out of her. This is her Handicap debut off a reasonable looking mark and I’d like to think she’s better than 64.
