A fast run six furlongs

NEWMARKET

2:25 G1 Cheveley Park Stakes

Orion’s Belt (Sean Levey)

She’s a filly we’ve always held in very high regard and did what we knew she was capable of when bolting up on the July course in the summer. I was pleased with her effort at Salisbury last time when she got reeled in on the line on ground that was plenty soft enough. The quicker ground here will suit and while, admittedly, she needs to step up again, a fast run six furlongs will be right up her street and I’d be hopeful she can run well at decent odds.

4:45

Mojito (Sean Levey)

She’s learning all the time but is a lovely filly with plenty of ability who will have no problem winning races. This looks a typically hot Newmarket Maiden, however, and I think she’ll be better suited to races when she’s handicapped.

5:20

Glow (Hollie Doyle)

I loved the way she finished her race at Newbury on debut and she has come on a lot for it. The step up to seven furlongs should bring out more improvement and I wouldn’t put you off her.

HAYDOCK

Wild Clary (Joe Leavy)

He’s very consistent and should probably have won more than just a Maiden, but he continues to run well and didn’t go down without a fight at Yarmouth last time. Six furlongs is his trip and he has a solid each way chance.

3:15

Christian David (Joe Leavy)

I was delighted with him at Newbury last Saturday and he has come out of it well, so we’re backing him up again. He gets a mile no problem and there might still be some improvement in him.

RIPON

2:15

Assaranca (Sam Hitchcott)

She’s yet to finish out of the money in all bar one of her runs and deserves to get her head in front. Alec takes a handy 3lbs off her back and I’ll be disappointed if she’s not able to put up a very prominent display.

2:50

Cayman Tai (Sam Hitchcott)

He’s a very pacey horse so this track will suit him well and he could be potentially well treated running of just 79 after Alec’s claim. He wasn’t beaten far last time, and as long as the ground isn’t too soft, he could reward each way support.

CURRAGH

3:45 Goffs Million

Gharma Sutra (Jamie Powell)

He’s a very free-going colt who needs to relax and learn to race, so we’re putting the hood on to try and help that, and a race like this, where they’re likely to go a decent gallop, should play to his strengths. It’s a very valuable prize, and if he switches off, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him run well.
