Wetherby – Saturday
12.50pm
Late Romantic
I see he has had a wind op since his last run, and hopefully that will help. He already has a very fair chance at these weights if returning to his best and 3m with cut in the ground should really suit. He went well first-time-out last season, too.
1.20pm
Cave Top
He is only 4lb higher than when winning well at Uttoxeter back in January, so he clearly has chances if coming back to that form. He won first time up in 2017, too, and he has been dropped 2lb since his last run, which allows him to get into this 0-125.
4.10pm
Midnight Moss
He signed off for the summer with a win at Hexham in May and doesn’t look badly treated off a mark of 113 on his first start for the yard. He is lightly-raced and, they clearly think a first-time tongue-tie will help him, too. He looks a very nice ride to pick up.
Huntingdon – Sunday
1.10pm
Hurricane Harvey
We obviously have our team in great nick and this horse showed us plenty of ability in bumpers last season. He is yet another nice horse we have for novice hurdles, and trip and ground look perfect for him. It’s a big field and competitive race but I think he has improved from last season and he has a good chance.
2.20pm
Twotwothree
I rode him a couple of times last season and he looks to have improved appreciably when winning well in the soft at Bangor on his return. He has gone up a hefty 12lb for that, but let’s hope he can continue that progression here. The expected better ground shouldn’t be an issue.
2.55pm
Imperial Elysium
He would have needed his first start back over hurdles, after a break and after a summer wind op, and I think he has the ability to making his mark off 102 here on his chasing debut. He has schooled very well.
3.30pm
Robyndzone
He is another of ours who probably will strip a lot fitter and sharper from his return at Southwell last month. If he returns to the form of either of his earlier second placings for me, then he should go well, especially as this better ground will be in his favour. This looks an ideal race for him, and he looks to be my best chance of a winner this weekend.
4.05pm
Out The Glen
He has been beaten a long way in his recent starts but his mark reflects that and he showed enough ability in points to suggest he could go well here, stepping up in trip on his first start in a handicap.
