I FANCY a lot of the favourites on this card – Envoi Allen, Defi Du Seuil, Copperhead and Tiger Roll – but Palladium is very interesting at a bigger price in the Boodles. He really impressed me at Sandown last time and is a real stayer, which is what you will need in that race this year.

Cheltenham Festival Wednesday

2.50pm

Champagne Well

He clearly stays 3m but I think we saw at Doncaster last time that it probably isn’t his ideal trip, so I think the step down to 2m5f in this ground will really suit him. I don’t think he was at his best at Doncaster, though. We know he loves it around here, with a win and two seconds from three starts, and I think a mark of 141 is fair enough. He should go well, but this is an incredibly tough race to win. He is really fresh and well.

5.30pm

Ask A Honey Bee

A winner of a point, he is three-from-three in bumpers. I rode him for the first of those successes at Southwell and he has impressed since, following up in a good time at Haydock and then under a penalty at Wetherby last time. He will clearly love the ground and I think he has a definite each-way chance in what is obviously a very competitive race, as you would expect. You can never go into a race like this confident, but I am hoping he will run a massive race.
