Mill Green
He was one of our many horses who excelled at Cheltenham and at one point I thought he was going to win the Pertemps. As it was, his third there was clearly a huge effort in such a competitive race, though he has paid for it a touch with a 2lb rise. You obviously have to give him a chance in another wide-open handicap.

He created a big impression on me when winning over 2m at Newbury back in January, but he hasn’t had a smooth run at things since and we had to miss Cheltenham with him. But all is well now and I think this step up in trip will suit this exciting prospect. He obviously steps up in grade too, but we are looking forward to seeing what he can do. We think he is decent. I schooled him on Tuesday and he felt great.

Unfortunately, my intended mount Caribean Boy was a late withdrawal on Thursday morning, so I am available for late spares!
Anyway, here are my top four – 1. Delta Work 2. Any Second Now 3. Fiddlerontheroof 4. Kildisart.

The ground is an obvious worry but hopefully it won’t be too bad at the off and he can take his chance. He gave me the feel of a smart horse in his two all-weather bumper starts and, while he clearly needs to improve a good deal, he wouldn’t be a forlorn hope by any means.
