Cheltenham – Saturday

4.55pm

Pym

We don’t like starting off our novice chasers at Cheltenham but he has schooled very, very well at home. I’d be a bit wary if it came up very testing but he was a good novice hurdler last season, winning at Kempton before disappointing a bit on his final start here at the Festival, and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do over fences. This looks a pretty hot novices’ chase, but you expect that at this meeting.

Aintree – Sunday

12.40pm

Corrany

There is a lot of rain forecast for Aintree on Sunday but I think he will handle it. It was rider error that got him beaten when third in a bumper at Market Rasen last time and he has done nicely at home since, schooling well in preparation for his hurdling debut here. We school them endlessly at home, so they know their job. This is a good starting point for him over the right trip, and hopefully he should go well.
