WE went to Newbury this morning and worked Might Bite, Santini and On The Blind Side over 10 fences, and all went to plan.
Might Bite worked on his own and I was very happy with him.
It wasn’t just a sedate exercise either, as I let Might Bite rock and roll, despite the ground having turned soft.
It would have done him the world of good and, without going overboard, I am increasingly happy with him as he gears up for the Gold Cup.
I also sat on Santini in his piece of work with On The Blind Side, who Noel Fehily rode. The rain was continuing to come down and the ground had opened up a fair bit by then.
We went in single file for the first five fences but then let them join each other, and they finished off well up the straight once we had switched to the hurdles track.
It was vital that we got a good bit of work into Santini as he is not the most over-enthusiastic at home, and this would have gone a long way to putting him spot on for the RSA.
