2.25pm Sandown

Fantastic Lady

She obviously has a fair bit to find but she gets weight from all and she ran another excellent race in the Topham last time. This better ground will suit her, and it wouldn’t be a huge shock if she ran above market expectations. She finished a good third to Hewick in this race last season.

Jonbon

He clearly stayed the 2m4f of the Melling Chase very well at Aintree – indeed, he had to in order to get the better of back-to-form Conflated – but he is clearly equally effective over this trip and he is three from three around here, including when winning this race last season. Maybe it is El Fabiolo who has questions to answer now after his Cheltenham run -as we had before Aintree – but he clearly is a top-notcher who deserves the utmost respect, as do a few others in here. It’s a great season finale, and here is hoping we can maintain that 100pc course record.

Persian Time

He obviously didn’t run up to his best over 2m at Ayr last week, but the boss has decided to run him again quickly here over a longer trip that could suit him. He stays this trip well and he certainly has his chance on his earlier Kempton defeat of Soul Icon.

5.20pm Sandown

Will Carver

We haven’t seen him since he ran no sort of race at Kempton on Boxing Day, but at least he comes here fresh and he clearly has a chance on his earlier Taunton win. He likes decent ground and this is his trip, and he has had a wind op since we last saw him.
