The ground here is clearly going to be very testing, but he does have winning form on soft on the Flat, so hopefully he will handle the conditions. That is clearly a doubt then but his talent isn’t as he was rated 103 on the level after his 1m6f Listed win at Ascot in October and we have been very happy with him at home. And he does get plenty of weight from the form horses, of which Sober Glory looks very useful. But the racecourse will tell us more.

We have decided to come here instead of the Kingmaker at Warwick but I imagine we will be keeping a keen eye on the ground. He won on what was classed as heavy ground in France but all his form in this country has come on decent surfaces. He is a hugely talented horse and he has taken superbly to fences so far with wins at Exeter and Sandown and hopefully that run can continue here. Worsening ground would possibly be a concern, as would some decent opposition and a 3lb penalty.
