He obviously didn’t show what we would thought he was capable of last season after joining us after winning a bumper for Gordon Elliott. So we were delighted with his win in what I thought was a good maiden hurdle at Chepstow on his return, a race in which he travelled and jumped well, and put the race to bed nicely. Of course, this is a much stronger contest but he earned the right to this step up in class after what he did last time. If it is decent ground here, then so much the better.

He clearly ran no sort of race at all at Uttoxeter back in September but it was much more like it when second at Ludlow last time. Going up 3lb for a defeat is never welcomed, but hopefully he can progress now after that improved showing.
