Russian Ruler (Nico De Boinville)

I did sort of think two miles was his best trip but, judged on his latest run, he shapes like a horse who would like a bit further, so two and a half around Kempton should be right up his street and the form of that Newbury race has worked out very nicely. He’s not without a chance here.

Constitution Hill (Nico De Boinville)

As we all know, this is not the way we expected to get here but owing to the weather we have found ourselves turning up without a run, which isn’t ideal, but he’s done plenty of work and been away to gallop, so shouldn’t be wanting for fitness, and I’m looking forward to eventually getting him going!

First Steet (Sam Twiston-Davies)

He’s not quite up to Grade One level but is very talented in his own right and the switch back to Hurdles won’t be a problem. There’s good prize money on offer and hopefully he can pick some up.

Shishkin (Nico De Boinville)

It hasn’t been ideal coming into this without a prep run, but I’m afraid we have to accept the cards we’re dealt. We have done everything that can be done to try and eradicate any potential misbehaviour at the start, and I really don’t think it will be a problem this time because George Daly, my assistant, will be there to keep everything under control. After Aintree in the spring, this race has always been the objective and I think three miles around Kempton will really suit. He’s in very good shape at home and I’m very much looking forward to the race.

Gentleman’s Relish (Nico De Boinville)

We fancied him to go very close in his bumper, but he was ultimately a little bit disappointing and didn’t really know what life was about, however, he came back last month and won very impressively and has come on a lot for it. His schooling has gone well, and he’s a very smart novice.

Will Carver (Nico De Boinville)

He got quite a hike for winning at Taunton last time so has to improve again, and I wouldn’t rule out stepping him up in trip in the future, but this looks a good race for him, and I quite like his chances.

Jango Baie (James Bowen)

The form of his Ascot win has worked out very nicely, and while he takes on Ben Pauling’s horse again, I’d like to think our lad has come on for that first run. He handles the ground and could be quite an exciting prospect. Put it this way, we’ll know where he fits in the pecking order after this.
