FRIDAY – PUNCHESTOWN
5:30 G1 Punchestown Champion Hurdle
Buveur D’Air (Mark Walsh)
It make sense to come here for this race as he’s not getting any younger so we’re just going to kick on with him and then he can enjoy a well earnt holiday at JPs with the rest of the squad at Martinstown. I’m not convinced he’s really been quite at his best this season and a few things haven’t quite gone to plan but there were no excuses at Aintree last time and he got beaten fair and square by Jessie’s Supasundae who re-opposes again. I’ve been happy with him ever since, though, and any rain that falls will really be in his favour. I think we should fear Apple’s Jade back on her home soil and with a Mares allowance but Buveur is in great form and it would be nice to end his season on a high.
