CHELTENHAM – SATURDAY
2:55
Quick Draw (Nico de Boinville)
You can never be quite sure which Quick Draw is going to turn up, and he didn’t seem to appear to like the frenetic pace at Wincanton last time, so hopefully they’ll go a more relaxed gallop here and he can get into a rhythm. I’m not saying he’s well handicapped over hurdles, but he’s rated a few pounds lower then fences and if things go his way, he could reward each way support.
Captain Morgs (Paul O’Brien)
He first very much into the same bracket at Quick Draw in the case that he can often throw in the odd bad run, as we saw at Cheltenham last time. That was over fences, so he’s also switching back to hurdles and has won over course and distance off just a 1lb higher mark. Good ground suits him best and, as with our other runner, if things pan out, he could go ok.
CHELTENHAM – SUNDAY
1:45 2m4f Nov Hcap Chase
Peaky Boy (Nico de Boinville)
He’s won both his starts (over hurdles) for us and is a horse we think an awful lot of. Chasing was always going to be his game, as he’s a Point to Point winner (beat Persian Time) and I’m really looking forward to getting him started. This is a tough track to kick off over fences but we had a few entered in this race and this lad will be more suited to the ground as he’s a very good moving animal. I expect him to take high rank among our novices’ this year.
3:30 Unibet Greatwood Hurdle
Under Control (Nico de Boinville)
I’m not sure what went wrong in the Galway Hurdle, I really don’t, and nothing has come to light. Two out she was travelling so well and looked the winner, but she stopped very quickly and we can offer no explanation, unfortunately. She is still very unexposed and I think a mark of 137 is certainly ‘workable’. Her schooling has been very good and she won’t have any issues with the ground. The Unibet Greatwood Hurdle is a very prestigious and valuable contest and the first big hurdle race of the season. After Iberico Lord became my first winner of the race last year, I’m hoping it will be a case of London Buses whereby you wait ages for one, and then two come along in a row!
