CHELTENHAM – FRIDAY
1:45
Hyland (Nico De Boinville)
I thought he was very good over course and distance last time and good ground suits him particularly well. The race did sort of fall apart, but he jumped round extremely nicely and picked up to win well. This is obviously up another level but he’s consistent and in good form so comes here with a very good chance.
2:20
Jonbon (Nico De Boinville)
This race has always been the plan to start his season, and everything has gone well in the lead up. There are only four runners, so it could prove a little tactical, but Nico will probably get on with it and he won’t mind the ground. As we have seen on many occasions, there is no such thing as a certainty in this game, but he’s in great shape and is the obvious one to beat.
2:55
Mister Coffey (Nico De Boinville)
There are so few opportunities for horses like him because there aren’t many novice chases and he’s rated 140, which means he always ends up carrying big weights in Handicaps, although ironically, because of Conflated in the field, he’s actually out of the handicap for this! However, we thought a crack at Cross Country racing could be worth a shot and he has enjoyed practicing at home. He jumps and stays well, and this could be very interesting.
