3:35 G1 Ascot Chase
Jonbon (Nico De Boinville)
I think Jonbon could probably write his own Unibet blog by now! But suffice to say everything has gone well since the Clarence House and he comes into this race unbeaten at the track. He schooled on Tuesday morning which is something we usually do four days before a run because it flicks the switch back on and he’s in very good form.
He will remain in both the Champion Chase and the Ryanair right up until the very last minute because anything can change so we need to keep our options open.

Crazierthandaisy (Nico De Boinville)
I was pleased with her at Newbury last time where she seemed to handle the soft ground well and I think she stays three miles. We’re going back up in grade but she’s won at this level before and is unexposed at the trip.
HAYDOCK

Manlaga (Brian Hughes)
They are inspecting for frost so first of all let’s hope it passes the inspection because I really do need to run this mare.
I thought she ran very well at Doncaster, albeit she was pretty straight that day so I wouldn’t be expecting her to improve fitness wise.
The problem is she’s unable to compete in Novices because she won over Hurdles at Auteuil last March so is restricted to only Juveniles but once I’ve got a couple more runs into her we’ll then have a better understanding of where we are.
She isn’t very big but handles soft ground very well and hopefully she has a chance in what used to be a very prestigious race but has perhaps lost a bit of its lustre in recent years.

Reckless Spending (James Bowen)
I thought he was good at Kempton the other day and he goes in the soft and stays well, which are two attributes he’s going to need up there! He is probably coming back pretty quick but this is a nice race so we’re giving it a shot and finding out where he lives.

Go To War (Brian Hughes)
He did it very well at Windsor in a valuable race, which was terrific, and he seemed to really enjoy himself out in front and saw the trip out well. We don’t necessarily need to do that again, and he’s 6lbs higher in the weights, but handles soft ground and obviously needs to finish in the first four to qualify for the Pertemps.
