AFTER lots of discussion and ‘umming and ahhing’ with Michael Buckley we have come to the conclusion that Constitution Hill will not go to Punchestown and take on Honeysuckle.
He’s a young horse and his whole life is in front of him and we’ve got all of next year to look forward to when hopefully we’ll all end up in the Unibet Champion Hurdle in March.
To be honest with you he’s still quite a big, shell of a horse and in my opinion he’ll almost be a better horse, if it’s possible, next season, because it took a long time to get him filled up this year and his run in the Supreme has probably just shown on him a little bit.
He’s fresh and well in himself and it’s easy to say he had an easy race at Cheltenham but it takes a lot out of them they never have an easy race there and let’s not forget he’s still a novice who has only had four runs in his entire life so I don’t think it would be in his best interest to have a smash up so early in his career when we don’t really have to.

Of course it would be wonderful to see two great racehorses go head to head, and we hope it will happen next season, but now is not the time to go at it hammer and tongs.
We are going to keep the dream alive which I’m sure is the most sensible thing to do.
Epatante will definitely go over to Ireland and we have the option of taking on Honeysuckle or sticking to 2m4f for the G1 Mares’ Hurdle which is what Marie’s Rock is going for so I’ll have a chat with JP, AP and Frank before making a decision on her.
