CHELTENHAM – TUESDAY
1:30 G1 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle
Constitution Hill (Nico De Boinville)
He has been very good all the way through and handled the step up to Grade One Company with no qualms when winning the Unibet Tolworth last time. The plan was always to come straight here after that because there was nothing really for him, so he’s been away to Kempton which was all very good and he comes here in great shape and we’re obviously very hopeful. But this is a particularly good Supreme and I cannot say I’m as confident as I was the year Altior won, I knew nothing would beat him that day, but Willie has shuffled his pack and has plenty of angles covered so it’s going to be a great race. Constitution Hill is an extremely high class horses, however, and we are all very excited about him.
Jonbon (Aidan Coleman)
He was the joint most expensive purchase at the Yorton Point to Point Sale in 2020 and has done everything we have asked of him so far. When he first arrived at Seven Barrows he was very fidgety and in a rush to get everything done as quickly as possible, but he’s really calmed down now and is a much, much more relaxed horse. We took him for an away day at Kempton and to be honest, had he got wound up we wouldn’t have even galloped him, it would have done him good just to have a trip in the horse box, but as it was, he was very relaxed and calm so we decided to let him have a little solo spin around the track which has done him a lot of good and he arrives here in tip top shape.
A lot of people crabbed his win at Haydock last time but the ground was very tacky and boggy which wouldn’t be to his liking and the good ground here, along with the stiff course, will really suit. We are very lucky that we’re in the position to have two very big chances in this race and I couldn’t separate them – so don’t try to ask me!

3:30 G1 Unibet Champion Hurdle
Epatante (Aidan Coleman)
I really do think we’ve got her back to where she was a couple of years ago but unfortunately a couple of years ago there was no Honeysuckle to contend with which makes things rather more difficult! The plan was always to win the Fighting Fifth, which she sort of shared, and then the G1 Christmas Hurdle where she was very impressive in beating Glory And Fortune who came out and won the Betfair, so that form is strong, and she’s also been to Kempton to work and was very good there as well.
Rachel McMahon, who rides her every day is really happy with her and the ground should be absolutely perfect. I’m not suggesting she will beat Honeysuckle but she’s in very good shape and I’m hopeful she can finish much closer.

4:10 G1 Mares’ Hurdle
Marie’s Rock (Nico De Boinville)
After a year away in the wilderness where she was hardly sighted and we were starting to scratch our heads, since stepping her up to this trip she seems to finally be showing us what we all know she is capable of and she was very good in a Listed race at Warwick last time. This is obviously another step back up the ladder but she comes into this in very good shape and I can’t see any reason why she won’t be thereabouts.
