ROYAL ASCOT – TUESDAY

5:00 Ascot Stakes Handicap

Ahorsewithnoname (William Buick)

This race has been the plan from the outset and I’m very pleased with her coming into it. She is now in foal to Cracksman and I must admit she has been very different since we ‘covered’ her in the sense that before she was a very placid girl who took everything in her stride but her little soirée at Dalham Hall Stud has undoubtedly changed her temperament a bit and she is now much more excitable; maybe she’s keen to go back for a second date!

Joking aside, she is slightly different in her demeanour but that is purely down to hormones, I suspect, and some have said that mares can often improve a little bit once they’re in foal – whether she will, only time will tell but she has a good draw and the ground will suit.

Ryan Moore has won on her before and the plan was for him to ride again but he was already secured a while ago by a certain Mr W Mullins, however he and William Buick share the same agent so I am more than happy with our jockey booking!

Ahorsewithnoname has been very good in the lead up to this and she got two and a half miles over hurdles at Cheltenham so I don’t suppose two and a half on the flat at Ascot will frighten her too much, and she’s done plenty of work so won’t be wanting for fitness.

It’s highly likely this will be her last run, therefore it would be wonderful if she could sign off in style before heading to the paddocks to have babies.
