Sandown

2.05pm

Pocket Dynamo

The ground is an obvious concern, but he has strong form claims, down in grade and this looks a perfect race for him. He has run well on all three starts this season, and he will obviously find this a lot easier than when taking on Battaash in the Temple Stakes last time. The more the ground dries out, the better his chance.

Delegate This Lord

Being drawn of 10 is hardly ideal. But he has winning form on good to soft and the handicapper has dropped him 2lb for his run over 6f at Bath last time. He is 6lb lower than when a close second in this race last season, so he is certainly handicapped to play a leading role. And the cheek pieces that he last wore when winning at Newbury a couple of years ago are back on here.

3.50pm

Artistic Rifles

I am two-from-two on him, so let’s hope we can keep on a winning roll. He is clearly an improving 3yo judged on his brace of Doncaster fast-ground wins this season, though the handicapper hasn’t missed him by upping him 10lb for those two narrow successes. He has form over 7f on and on good to soft ground, so he has a fair shot at a hat-trick. He doesn’t do a lot in front so maybe he is still ahead of the handicapper.

5.35pm

Archimento

William has his horses in really good form, and hopefully Archimento has dropped to a mark which he can win off, too. He ran well enough when fifth over 2m at Goodwood last month and was eased 1lb for it, and the step back to 1m6f could be a positive given he is fully effective over 1m2f and 1m4f, as well. I think he has a fair chance.
