Chelmsford
1.40pm
Positive Light
Hopefully, the 2yos are also beginning to get going now, with a nice winner at Beverley earlier in the week, and Alpinista winning on her debut at Epsom last month. Positive Light was beaten a fair way here on her debut but hopefully she will have learned a lot from that.
2.10pm
Kamikaze Lord
He looks well-handicapped on his winning 2yo form for his previous trainer, and he didn’t shape badly for new connections at Wolverhampton last time. He is down to a mark of 75 now, and hopefully that makes him competitive here. He wears a tongue-tie for the first time, too.
2.45pm
Mon Frere
We expected a little better from him at Wolverhampton last time and the handicapper has left him on the same mark for getting well beaten there. But hopefully he can show us more here, stepped back to 1m6f. He is another one of mine to be tried in something new to help him, and it is cheek pieces in his case.
3.20pm
Green Door
He did what he was entitled to in a Lingfield seller last time, and hopefully his confidence will have been boosted as a result. He wasn’t running too badly before that win, to be fair, and he looks on a fair mark, though his two previous runs at this track haven’t been his best.
3.55pm
Motfael
He is a well-related colt, who cost a fair bit as a yearling, and he shaped with promise at Kempton on his debut. He will have to improve upon that to be winning this, but you would have to expect improvement and the stable is in fair form.
4.30pm
Alma Linda
She is related to a lot of good horses, so hopefully this filly can make her presence felt here off a mark of 67 on her handicap debut. It is not too generous on what we have seen of her so far, but she has shown promise on all three starts, and she is entitled to improve, especially with the horses in such good form. She gets cheek pieces to help her, as well, and she has a good chance.
5.05pm
London Pride
She has to show more than of late but she has come down 12lb for just three runs, and that allows her to get into this 0-55 handicap. This trip should suit on pedigree and she is not out of this on her Kempton fourth last season.
Lingfield
7.05pm
Whims Of Desire
She was one of our horses who certainly didn’t shine recently, but it could well be that 2m stretched her stamina far too far. But the handicapper dropped her 5lb for it, and hopefully this well-related Nathaniel filly can show a lot more here, stepped down in trip.
7.35pm
Whimsical Dream
She looks a nice ride to pick up. She did it nicely enough over course and distance last time, and a 3lb rise looks very fair. She is a nicely-bred filly who hopefully will continue to improve.
