IT has been a long way back from the injury that I suffered at Doncaster last month – a horse got upset in the stalls and landed on my ankle – but I’m obviously very glad to be back riding at York on Friday.

The recovery has taken just under a month – I had a slight setback when I rode out a fortnight ago – but some hard work in the last two weeks has got me fit and ready to return.

So let’s hope I can kick on now.

Calippo

Archie continues to have his horses in great form and this filly clearly has chances in a very open, and pretty valuable, seller. She won on fast ground at Lingfield last month and then appeared to run equally well, on easier going, under a penalty at Pontefract earlier this week.

Candelisa

The ease in the ground won’t be any problem for him and he comes here in decent form, after winning at Leicester first-time-up and then finishing third at that track last time. He has run well at this course before and it isn’t hard to see him going well too, albeit this is again a very competitive race.

4.40pm

Philipine Cobra

I have got three decent rides on my return and this filly makes a pretty quick turnaround after winning easily on fast ground at Bath last week. She went up 10lb for that 6-length victory, so is 4lb well-in under her 6lb penalty here, and she had some form with cut when in Ireland. It’s a stronger race but she must have a leading chance.
