WOLVERHAMPTON
5.05pm
Air Of York
He has dropped down to a decent mark for his new stable, having been eased another 1lb on the back of a fair run at Salisbury last time. He is now 1lb lower than when winning over 6f at that course back in May and we know he stays 1m well, so this course winner, who is drawn okay in four, probably has a fair each-way chance.

He clearly didn’t run-up to his best at Lingfield last time but he can certainly be competitive off this mark if he returns to form. He is a horse I know well, and have won on, and he has a good chance on his Chepstow second in July. He does need to run better than on his two previous starts here, though.

Irene May
She went up 7lb for winning by 4 lengths at Bath, so her sixth in a better race at Newmarket was a decent effort. The handicapper has dropped this lightly-raced sort 1lb for it too, so I’d like to think she can make her presence felt.
7.45pm
Al Hamdany
This is a decent 1m4f handicap and Al Hamdany wouldn’t have the most obvious chance on his Newcastle run last time out in July. But he has had a break since then and been dropped 3lb, and his form in the spring entitles him to a lot of respect in here. Furthermore, he has been placed on both starts at the course, not beaten far at all, and he is back down to his last winning mark. He also goes well when fresh, so I wouldn’t be in a rush to dismiss him.

Tofan
He has had a wind op since we last saw him here in January, so he clearly has questions to answer. But he showed ability for me in both his outings to date, and, again, I’d like to think he is better than he has shown. He will need to be, though, as this looks a decent novice.
