He ran a really good race when third off a 1lb higher mark than this at Sandown three starts ago, and has run okay on his two outings since, too. He has form over 1m2f and beyond, so a strongly-run 1m1f could suit him, and it is worth noting that he is very well handicapped on some of his 2018 form.

This is his first run for Mr Todd and his first after a wind op, too. He looks fairly treated on his debut effort at two, and he didn’t run badly on his return after a lengthy absence at Kempton in April. We haven’t seen him since May but hopefully the tweak to his breathing and a change of stables can see him go well off this mark.

Carvelas

He loves an all-weather surface, and has dropped to a 1lb lower mark than when winning over 1m6f here in June. He obviously hasn’t run so well of late to fall in the weights, but he shaped well enough at York last time and hopefully he is ready to strike again now. He has done his recent winning over 1m6f and 2m, but he won twice over this trip here and at Dundalk last season.

King’s Counsel

He looked in need of the experience over 1m2f on his debut back in March. He clearly has a lot to find here but he will pick up good prize money for third at worst and this very well-related son of Camelot should relish the longer trip on pedigree.
