He made his debut when second at this meeting last season, and he also filled the same position when he came back here for his maiden. But he broke his duck at Redcar and ran a couple of good races thereafter, including when second over 7f at Newbury. He is 2lb higher here and has yet to prove he is as effective over 1m, but Gay has her horses in good form and the drying ground is no concern.

He has been an absolute star for me and he was a model of consistency towards the end of last season. He hasn’t been that harshly treated by the handicapper for that series of good efforts, and is only 4lb higher than for his most recent win back in September, and he has run a couple of good races here in the past. Trip and ground are fine for him, although he is an 8yo now and has tended to needed his seasonal reappearance of late.
