Irish Legend
Although he only beat two home at Ascot last time, I think he shaped well there, not beaten far, and he actually finished off his race well on the inside. The bare form wasn’t as good as his previous Royal Ascot third over 1m2f in soft ground but I can see this test suiting him, with Sunday’s rain an obvious plus. The outside draw in 14 hopefully won’t be a problem, and I quite like his chances. The softer the better for him. Unibet's 15 To Go will be available on this race.

Things didn’t pan out ideally when dropped back to 6f to York last time, so I think she is better than she showed there in finishing second. In fact, her earlier third to Creative Force and Naval Crown over this trip and soft ground in the Jersey is better form. That probably gives her as good a claim as any in here but you don’t need me to tell you the amount of luck in running you will need around here with 17 runners from a midfield draw. However, she is in really good form at home and I wouldn’t mind drying ground for her, that Ascot run notwithstanding. Unibet's 15 To Go will be available on this race.

Snow Lantern
I am delighted to get the call-up obviously with Sean suspended, not least because she has a lot going for her. I think we all know that Poetic Flare is the one to beat after his wide-margin St James’s Palace Stakes win, especially as he has form on this softer surface too, but Snow Lantern is building up a nice head of steam as the season progresses. She probably didn’t get the run of the race when second to Alcohol Free in the Coronation on heavy ground but she reversed that form when coming late to win the Falmouth last time. We know she is ground-versatile, improving and lightly-raced and you’d be slightly disappointed to see her out of the first three, even if this is a pretty tightly-knit Sussex Stakes behind the form horse Poetic Flare. Unibet's 15 To Go will be available on this race.

She never got into it in the Sandringham last time and was beaten a long way, but she made late gains to take seventh and the handicapper has dropped her 2lb for it. She ran well when second in the Prestige Stakes here last season and handles cut, and the step up to 1m2f is well worth trying after her Ascot run.

He won three of his five starts for Archie Watson before going to France, and this is his first start for Simon [Dow]. A mark of 92 doesn’t given him an obvious, stand-out chance at the weights but he was Listed-placed earlier in the year, so hopefully he is fairly handicapped.
