He has a pretty interesting profile for this race. He was a 110-rated juvenile, so he has the necessary back-class to be winning a competitive handicap like this off a mark of 100, and a switch of stables may re-ignite his enthusiasm after a winless couple of years. But he shaped well enough on at least a couple of occasions last season, including at Chester first time out, to suggest that he can be competitive here off a falling handicap mark. His new stable has been in very good form over the jumps of late and, while the drying ground may not be totally ideal – in fact, I really do think he could do with some rain – he looks to have a fair shot at this. And, like most of these, this has been the plan for him for a long while. He is drawn around most of the other fancied horses in stall 16, so hopefully he is in the place to be. The favourite Auxerre has a lovely profile, but we’ve been here before with horses like him.
Unibet are paying 7 places on the Unibet Lincoln from 9am on the day of the race.
