Vindolando

She is a Nathaniel half-sister to a fair sort in Elronaq and she predictably found the step up to this trip more in her favour at Newmarket last month. I thought she shaped well enough on her reappearance there and hopefully she can only improve with experience, but a lot more is obviously required here and I imagine she will be one of the outsiders, for all that the stable has always liked a winner or two at this meeting. In fact, I won this race for Charlie on Never Surrender in 2017 but Vindolando does not have such an obvious chance.

Revich

He will need the breaks from his midfield draw in eight. I rode him when he beat only one home on his debut at Ascot last season but he clearly progressed a good deal from that, and he took advantage of the plum draw in one when making all over 7f here in the summer. He is still 5lb higher now and clearly not as well drawn, but let’s hope that a gelding operation since we last saw him has helped he can get away sharply and give himself half a chance as he steps back down to 6f. I think he could have a tough task on here, though.
