NEWMARKET

2.45pm Newmarket: A difficult race to call but the form of Concessions’ Chelmsford win was boosted when the third was placed in the Chesham, and she may be good, and quick, enough to cope with the step down to 6f.

3.20pm Newmarket:  Buhturi went up 4lb for his narrow Haydock defeat but he could still be the answer to this small-field handicap. He clearly bumped into a very progressive horse there.

3.55pm Newmarket: Dal Horrisgle has been tried over further of late but he has won over this trip, so I am not worried on that score. He also won first time up last season, and his mark of 102 looks fair.

4.30pm Newmarket: I have won on Universal Order a couple of times, and he is in good shape for his comeback. He was gelded after I won on him at Yarmouth, and he ran a couple of decent races in Dubai earlier in the year. He carries a 3lb penalty for his Meydan win in January but I think there is more improvement in him this season.

WINDSOR

2.25pm Windsor: Repartee was hugely impressive when winning on his debut at York, and he rounded off the season with a Gimcrack third and a good second in a valuable Doncaster Sales race. I think he could develop into a smart sort this season, and this looks a good starting point for him.

3.00pm Windsor: They think a fair bit of Urban Icon so maybe they were a touch disappointed with him at Haydock. But that was actually a very solid effort under a penalty. He carries that 3lb burden again here, but he could be up to winning in this grade again, with the step up to 1m not expected to be a problem.

3.35pm Windsor: Surf Dancer not only got wiped out on his return at Sandown, but he also got put up 3lb for it. That was harsh. But he still strikes me as a horse who will rate higher than his current mark of 97.

CURRAGH

4.15pm Curragh: Make A Challenge loves it here, and the more it rains the better for him. He was impressive in winning at Naas last week, and looks to hold strong claims. However, if it turns testing then Forever In Dreams could prove a serious rival. She has plenty of Group 1 form, and she put up a great effort when third for me in heavy ground in the Champions Sprint at Ascot in October. On that form, she will not be far away.

4.45pm Curragh: Magical is a class above these, and it all comes down to how straight she is for her reappearance.  She is a dual Group 1 winner, she won first time up last season, she handles good and soft ground alike, and she will simply be hard to beat here if tuned up for this.
