They had 20mm of rain at Longchamp the other day, so the ground will be very testing. That will hopefully help negate the effect of the draw, as we have been very unlucky once again there in being given 10 of 10. Ideally, I would have liked a midfield draw in four or five, as that would give you better options to react to the pace of the race – jump well and then either hold your position or take back – but you play the hand you are dealt. I haven’t sat on her recently but, then again, I hadn’t ridden her before her excellent second to a very good filly in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies’ Turf, even if the winner was beaten on her comeback. Obviously, you can mark up that form as she was drawn 14 of 14 there, had to come from behind and didn’t get the ideal passage, either. The form of that race is strong and she was two places in front of Just Wonderful, and I think you can upgrade Aidan’s filly’s run in the 1000 Guineas. And I also think East’s earlier clear-cut Group 3 win at Saint-Cloud is as good as anything else in here can muster going into this Classic. She won on soft ground on her debut and there are three in here that like to go forward, so let’s hope she can get a good tow into the race. It’s a tight race but she goes there with every chance.
