1.45 York: Mark Johnston has the favourite in here in Zabeel Champion but I think he could have the winner in King’s Caper. He only just got touched off in the Italian Derby before a sixth at Goodwood last time. If he runs up to that level here, then he is on a fair mark with conditions to suit, and he looks a decent price to me at around 9-1 and 10-1.

2.15 York: Enbihaar is vying for favouritism with Nayef Road in here and that is understandable. I side firmly with the mare though as she impressed at Goodwood last time, albeit in just a three-runner race, she has course form and there could be more improvement in her.

2.45 York: Minzaal built on his very promising Ascot debut when winning easily at Salisbury last time, and I think he could be up to bridging this big step up in class. He looks a smart prospect.

3.15 York: Boring I know, and I accept the progressive Art Power could give him a race, but I can’t really oppose Battaash. He is the best sprinter around, and a pretty consistent one, too, the odd defeat aside.

3.45 York: In the absence of Maximal, Rushmore is my choice to overturn the form horses. He perhaps did not run up to expectations when made favourite on his debut at Newbury, but he shaped with promise there all the same and this well-related Lope De Vega colt is expected to come forward a lot from that first effort.
