Victory Day

A very quiet weekend for me with Royal Ascot around the corner, but hopefully Victory Day is in with every chance in this 6f handicap. He is certainly the least exposed in here, having just his fourth start. He is a half-brother to a couple of fair sorts and he took a big step forward himself when winning a 6f maiden at Pontefract, his first outing since being gelded, in good style on his return. Obviously, this is a much stronger and competitive race as he makes his handicap debut, but the placed horses at Pontefract have run okay in defeat since, and hopefully a mark of 90 gives him a winning chance. His profile can work both ways – potential versus inexperience – but William tends to know what he is doing.
