2.40pm Windsor
Desert Encounter
He won this race a couple of years ago, and the Winter Hill Stakes on this card last year as well – in fact, he is three from three around here – but you have to worry about the ground for him. He handles soft, as we saw in the Princess Of Wales Stakes at Newmarket two runs ago, but he is clearly better on faster ground. He comes here in good form after just being touched off at Goodwood last time though, and is one of the form horses, so fingers crossed he handles conditions. If he does, then he has every chance of continuing his fine record at the track. In fact, he is the one to beat if the ground doesn’t ride too badly on Saturday.
3.15pm Goodwood
Tinandali
This race has cut up badly as well, though it will clearly take a bit of winning. Tinandali has a bit to find with the form horses but he has shaped as though better than his mark of 102 on numerous occasions, most recently when encountering traffic problems again at Goodwood last time. I’d probably settle for a place now in truth, as he does have 10lb to find with the top two form horses and the ground may be an issue, but we have not seen the best of him yet.
