NEWMARKET

1:10 Cash

He’s a good-looking son of Shamardal who I’ve ridden work on and has a bright future. This is a decent Newmarket Maiden and while he’ll definitely come on for the run and be better over middle distances, he’s ready to go and will hopefully put up a good performance.

1:45 Via Sistina

She won her novice very impressively at Goodwood back in May and then probably found a mile and half on very testing ground in a French G2 last time a step too far, so she should be happier stepping back down in trick, and could be quite an interesting contender off a mark of 89. Joe holds her in quite high regard and hopefully she can run well.

2:55 Fev Rover

This is a very competitive Sun Chariot, but my filly has some top-class form including an excellent third in the 1000 Guineas and is Group Two- winning two-year-old. Richard was very happy with her run in the Boomerang Stakes in Ireland last time which was her first since the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, so she’s definitely entitled to improve and is by no means any back number here because she’s versatile ground wise and has a great attitude.

3:30 King Alfred

This is another typically hot Newmarket Maiden and whatever wins will probably turn out to be quite smart. A lot of Ed’s two-year-olds tend to come on for their first run but this lad has been showing plenty at home and won’t disgrace himself.

4:40 Farhh To Shy

All of her runs have come at Yarmouth but each one has been very good and she seems to be improving. The going is an unknown but her sire, Farhh, handled soft ground very well and she will have to seriously into calculations here.

This year’s Arc de Triomphe looks one of the best in many years and winning it won’t be easy. Hurricane Lane has looked very good all season including in the St Leger last time, while Adayar was exceptional in the King George so I should imagine Charlie Appleby goes into the race pretty confident. However, I think the Irish have a strong hand in the race and Dermot Weld’s filly, Tarnawa, is my idea of the winner. She put up a brilliant performance in the Irish Champion Stakes when giving weight to Saint Marks Bassilica and for me she looks the one they’ve all got to catch.
