I AM not riding at York on Wednesday, so I thought I would run through the five ITV races for you.
1.45pm York: He never wins – well, he hasn’t since last summer anyway – but Arecibo is drawn around the right horses in here and he could pop up again. He has been running consistently well in defeat and the handicapper has given him a chance, as he has now come down 8lb since the start of the season. Unibet's 15 To Go offer will be live on this race. Unibet are paying AN EXTRA PLACE on this race (T&Cs apply)
2.15m York: Darvel was impressive when winning at Ayr in a good time and he could well be the answer here. He should appreciate the step up to 7f, and he is bred to handle cut if they get any more rain.
2.45pm York: There is no stand-out in here. A lot of these have beaten each other before, and Darain has a lot to prove – the horse he beat at Newmarket last time was only fourth at Wolverhampton last week – so I am going to give impressive course scorer Roberto Escobarr a chance. That success only came in a novice and he is rated just 90, but William Haggas wouldn’t waste that handicap mark unless he thought he had a good one.
3.15pm York: We have all been expecting Ghaiyyath to get beaten it seemed, but he toughed it out at Sandown last time and is quite simply the best horse in the race. They got racing early at Sandown but he saw them off them well, and York could suit his running style even more.
3.45pm York: I finished second to Make My Day over 1m4f here last time, and I don’t think a 6lb rise will stop him. He was off the bridle a long way out there, so I reckon the step up to 2m will suit this Galileo gelding really well. Unibet are paying AN EXTRA PLACE on this race (T&Cs apply)
