Ascot
2.25pm
Ispahan
He got taken out of his York engagement on Friday this morning. But, obviously, what I said about him at York pretty much stands, even if this race is over 1m6f. If he comes back to the form of his Brighton win – I am not entirely sure what went wrong at Goodwood last time – then he has a fair shout off this mark, with the ease in the ground set to suit.
3.00pm
Century Dream
He has a great record at Ascot, and everything looks in place for another bold show from him here. It’s a very competitive, and pretty deep, renewal and he meets some higher-rated horses off levels, but we know he loves the track and he comes here on the back of an authoritative win over Top Rank at Windsor last time. In addition, he will love the ground and he just looks to have a very solid chance to me. Any more rain would be a further plus.
3.35pm
Danzeno
He is another horse who loves this track, and he comes here off a win too, having won a three-runner conditions race at Haydock last time. He is getting on as a 10yo but 5f here with some ease in the ground is right up his street, and his mark of 103 seems very fair. He has a decent shot of following up his win in this race in 2017, for all it is clearly a hugely competitive sprint handicap.
4.45pm
Irish Legend
This looks a pretty hot handicap, but Irish Legend certainly has his chance. He races off the same mark as when third at Royal Ascot last time, and this improving lightly-raced sort could well be suited by the step up to 1m4f given he is by Sea The Stars. He clearly handles soft well, too.
