Clon Coulis
She has as good a chance as any on the book. She developed into a smart sort last season with fast-ground wins over 1m at Pontefract and Ascot, and I was pretty impressed with her when I rode her at Chelmsford on her return. That was actually the second time I had sat on her, have ridden her once at Newmarket as a 2yo. And while she only effectively had one rival to beat at Chelmsford, she did it well under a 3lb penalty on her first start of the season, and hopefully that will have teed her up nicely for this. She is unproven at the track and will need plenty of luck given her hold-up run-style – so being drawn 10 of 12 is what it is – and the step down to 7f is probably not ideal, either. But hopefully she will get a good pace to aim at – that looks key to her chance – it’s a nice pot and she does have strong form claims, like I said.
