There is little between most of these but my filly certainly has a chance on her best form. Granted, she has to put a modest run in the Lowther run last time behind her – and that was her first start after having her wind tweaked – but her earlier second in the Princess Margaret at Ascot puts her in with every chance from a form perspective. She has questions to answer after York, though.

Almania
Obviously, we are all playing second fiddle to Enable but we will be delighted to play third. A Group 3 placing is what we are aiming for before he goes to Australia, and hopefully the first-time blinkers will him bridge the fair ratings gap he needs to achieve that. His mark of 97 tells you he is right up against it here, but he is a horse who has always been well thought-of throughout his career and nothing particularly scares you outside of the favourite, for all Prince Of Arran and Fox Tal have clearly achieved far more than my horse.

Solid Stone
He didn’t run up to expectations in the John Smith’s last time but his earlier Sandown win over this 1m trip obviously was a smart effort. He is still 7lb higher here, having been left alone by the handicapper for the York disappointment last time, but he clearly has a chance on his all-weather debut if reproducing that Sandown run. Being drawn 10 of 10 is hardly ideal, though.

He hasn’t run up to his best in his most recent starts but he has been dropped 6lb, and that allows him to get into this 0-75. He has gone close from higher marks than this in the past, so he could well pop up at a price if returning to form, down in grade. However, his draw in 11 could have been better, too.

Redemptive
She dead-heated at Lingfield on Wednesday, so I imagine they may make a late call on whether she runs here, as she has been very busy in the last month or so. But she obviously has to be greatly respected here in her current form, for all she carries a penalty and is stepping down to 6f after all her recent form has been over 7f.
