Player to score – Eddie Nketiah (Tottenham v Arsenal) 2/1

Arsenal have picked up where they left off before the 2022 World Cup break with Mikel Arteta’s team still five points clear at the top of the Premier League table. The injury to Gabriel Jesus raises questions about the Gunners’ ability to maintain their momentum, but Eddie Nketiah has deputised well for the Brazilian.

Nketiah is a different sort of striker to Jesus, but the 23-year-old has scored four goals in the four games he has played since the World Cup. Arsenal will almost certainly create opportunities against Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s North London derby and Nketiah is likely to be on the end of at least one of them.

Player to be carded – Fabinho (Brighton v Liverpool)

Liverpool’s return to form was abruptly stopped by the 3-1 defeat to Brentford two weeks ago and Jurgen Klopp’s team will face another tricky opponent this weekend in the shape of Brighton. The form book suggests there will be goals in this game with over 2.5 goals in Brighton’s last seven Premier League matches and over 2.5 goals in Liverpool’s last six matches.

Fabinho could find himself in the firing line in the centre of the pitch. Liverpool’s midfield has been made to look old and slow more than once this season and Brighton could further exacerbate this weakness through the energy of Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister. A booking for Fabinho looks like a good bet.

Match to be a draw – Wolves v West Ham (23/10)

Julen Lopetegui has steadied the ship at Wolves following his appointment during the 2022 World Cup break, but the Molineux side are still struggling for firepower in the attacking third. Indeed, only Sampdoria and Elche have scored fewer goals than Wolves in any of Europe’s Big Five leagues so far this season.

Meanwhile, West Ham are struggling for any sort of form at the moment, winning just one of their last seven matches in all competitions. David Moyes’ team are sitting above the Premier League’s relegation zone on goal difference alone with the high stakes meaning a cagey match is likely at Molineux this weekend.

Team to keep a clean sheet – Newcastle United (v Fulham)

Fulham come into Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Newcastle United on the back of a 2-1 win over Chelsea that lifted them up to sixth place in the table. However, the Magpies will be tougher opponents given that they have kept a clean sheet in each of their last four matches in the league.

Newcastle have also made St James’ Park something of a fortress this season with Eddie Howe’s team still to suffer defeat in front of their own fans in the Premier League. Fulham’s strength lies in their ability to attack crosses into the box, but Newcastle have the defensive strength to make sure this doesn’t trouble them too much.

Saturday’s Manchester derby has a lot riding on it for both teams. In-form Manchester United can pull themselves to within just one point of Manchester City while Pep Guardiola’s team need the points to keep the pressure on Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table after suffering defeat to Southampton in the Carabao Cup during the week.

United have won their last four matches with Marcus Rashford scoring seven goals in his last six matches. Erling Haaland will be back for City after he was rested against Southampton while City have scored at least once in each of their last seven Premier League fixtures. Goals seem likely at Old Trafford this weekend.
