Player to score – Phil Foden (Liverpool v Manchester City) – (49/20)
Erling Haaland has broken records with his recent goal-scoring performances, but Phil Foden will also be a threat for Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday. The 22-year-old has scored in each of his last three Premier League appearances, including his hat trick in the Manchester derby. Indeed, Foden is arguably in the best form of his City career.
Pep Guardiola rested Foden for the Champions League victory over FC Copenhagen during the week, hinting that the England international will be an important part of Manchester City’s team for the match against Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s team have been vulnerable in defence of late and Foden’s movement could exploit this.
Player to be carded – Diogo Dalot (Manchester United v Newcastle United) – (5/2)
Allan Saint-Maximin is fit again for Newcastle United and that could be bad news for Diogo Dalot. The Portuguese right back is most likely to start on Saint-Maximin’s side for Manchester United this weekend and it will be up to him to stop the skilful Frenchman from causing damage at Old Trafford.
Dalot has already picked up four yellow cards in the Premier League this season. The 23-year-old has made himself Manchester United’s first-choice right back since the appointment of Erik Ten Hag, but his defensive game is still flawed with only Scott McTominay averaging more fouls per 90 minutes for the Old Trafford side this term.
Match to be a draw – Wolves v Nottingham Forest – (29/10)
Both Wolves and Nottingham Forest are currently at a low ebb. The former have lost their last three league matches in a row while the latter are without a win in their last seven Premier League fixtures. This doesn’t suggest Saturday’s meeting between the two teams at Molineux will be a high-standard encounter.
Wolves have failed to score in six of their last eight matches with under 2.5 goals in their last three home matches against Forest in all competitions. Steve Cooper has still to settle on his best team after a flurry of transfer market activity over the summer with Wolves still without a manager following the sacking of Bruno Lage.
Both teams to score – Real Madrid v Barcelona (4/9)
While Barcelona face early elimination from the Champions League, they enter the first Clasico of the season on the back of seven straight wins. No team has scored more goals in La Liga this term than the Catalans and Real Madrid have also been in strong goal-scoring form, netting 19 times in just eight games.
Both teams have scored in Real Madrid’s last three matches at the Santiago Bernabeu and with Robert Lewandowski averaging more than a goal-a-game for Barca in La Liga this season there’s good reason to believe Sunday’s El Clasico will swing back and forth. Real Madrid will have joy in quick transition.
