Player to score – Alexander Isak (Ipswich v Newcastle
After a sluggish start to the season, Alexander Isak has found his scoring touch again. The Swedish striker has found the back of the net three times in his last three Premier League outings with his latest strike coming in last weekend’s 4-0 demolition of Leicester City.
Isak has remembered where the goal is, and that’s bad news for Ipswich Town who have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 12 league games. Newcastle United will have opportunities to score at Portman Road this weekend and Isak will almost certainly be on the end of at least one of them.
Over 3.5 total goals – Bayern Munich v RB Leipzig
Bayern Munich have scored an incredible 42 goals in just 14 Bundesliga fixtures this season. There has been over 2.5 goals in 42 of the Bavarians’ last 52 league games with over 2.5 goals in the last five meetings between Bayern and RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena. Friday night’s game should be entertaining.
RB Leipzig stopped their recent slide with a win over Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend, but Marco Rose is still struggling to point his team in the right direction after a run of four straight matches without a win in the league in November. Friday’s trip to Munich could be a difficult one for RB Leipzig.
Match to be a draw – Brentford v Nottingham Forest
Brentford and Nottingham Forest are both flying high in the Premier League table with the latter sitting in fourth place and the latter just five points behind them. Saturday’s match will be an encounter between two overachievers with the potential to cause the strongest opponents problems on their day.
This could be an intriguing tactical match-up with both sides keep to attack open space quickly and directly. Will this suit Brentford or Forest more? Could the two teams cancel each other out as they attempt to exploit the other one’s weaknesses? This could be a match that ends in a sharing of the spoils.
Both teams to score – Barcelona v Atletico Madrid
Saturday’s meeting between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid could be a defining moment in this season’s Spanish title race with the two rivals divided only by goal difference at the top of the La Liga table. While Barca are on a run of just one win in six league games, Atleti have won 11-in-a-row in all competitions.
Barca haven’t kept a clean sheet in the league since beating Real Madrid 4-0 in El Clasico at the end of October with Hansi Flick’s high defensive line making the Catalans vulnerable at the back. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid have found their attacking touch recently in no small part due to the growing partnership between Julian Alvarez and Antoine Griezmann.

Tottenham vs Liverpool
Sunday’s match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium should produce goals. Spurs are the second-top scorers in the Premier League this season with Liverpool ranked fourth in this regard. Liverpool will pose a threat from set pieces having had the most corners in 13 of their last 15 away games.
Mohamed Salah is a solid bet to continue his good goalscoring form having found the net four times in his last four games. Tottenham and Liverpool are two attacking teams and that could dictate what kind of match is witnessed in North London on Sunday, even if the Reds are the favourites to take three points up the road.
