FA Cup 1

Player to score – Anthony Elanga (Brighton v Nottingham Forest) 4/1

One of the most compelling ties in this weekend’s FA Cup quarter-finals will see Brighton host Nottingham Forest with both teams aiming to win the competition. Brighton have never won the FA Cup in their history while Forest haven’t got their hands on the oldest trophy in world football since the 1950s.

Forest will look to play on the counter-attack and there could be space to exploit in behind the Brighton backline. Anthony Elanga will be a threat having scored two goals against Ipswich Town before the international break. The Swedish international could use his pace to send Forest through to the next round.

Under 2.5 total goals – Napoli v AC Milan (22/25)

Having won just one of their last seven Serie A matches, Napoli need three points against AC Milan this weekend to revive their Scudetto hopes. Antonio Conte’s team have lost their cutting edge in front of goal in recent weeks, drawing a blank in a 0-0 draw against Venezia before the International break.

Meanwhile, AC Milan are also struggling for form at the moment. Sergio Conceicao’s team have won just two of their last five league games, although those two wins came in back-to-back games before the international break. Napoli’s conservatism under Conte will make this a cagey affair.

Match to be a draw – Barcelona v Girona (23/4)

Barcelona return to action just three days after they faced Osasuna. A rearranged fixture meant the Catalans had to play so close to the international break with some of their players not long back from national team duty. Two games in just four days will be a real test for Hansi Flick’s table-topping team.

While Girona might be winless in their last six league games, their style of play will expose any fatigue Barcelona are feeling. They will look to play with the ball and press Barca out of possession. Flick could also rotate his squad to handle the congested schedule. There’s real value in backing the draw.

Both teams to score – Bournemouth v Manchester City (2/5)

Bournemouth have already beaten Manchester City once this season. The Cherries surely fancy their chances of repeating the trick and making the semi-finals of the FA Cup this weekend. While Andoni Iraola’s team haven’t been in the best of form recently, they have still found the back of the net in six of their last seven games.

City are still suffering structural issues, but boast the best goalscorer in English football (Erling Haaland) and there are signs Omar Marmoush is coming to life after his January transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt. Indeed, the Egyptian has scored four goals in his last six games. City will pose a threat.

Neither Fulham nor Crystal Palace have won the FA Cup and so Saturday’s meeting at Craven Cottage will be a golden opportunity for both teams. Palace are unbeaten in their last five away games against the Cottagers and are on a run of four straight wins in all competitions. The Eagles are soaring.

There has been under 2.5 goals in the last four matches between Fulham and Crystal Palace in all competitions. Jean-Philippe Mateta will return from injury to feature for the away team this weekend with the Frenchman giving Palace a sharper cutting edge in front of goal. That could be the difference.
