Player to score – Darwin Nunez (Liverpool v Aston Villa) 31/20
Liverpool are growing into Premier League title frontrunners under Arne Slot and this weekend’s match against Aston Villa gives them the opportunity to further strengthen their position at the top of the table. The Reds have only dropped points twice in the league this season and are still improving under their new manager.
Darwin Nunez has been in and out of the Liverpool team, but the Uruguayan could be particularly threatening in behind the high defensive line Villa commonly use. Luis Diaz is fresh from scoring a hat trick against Bayer Leverkusen while Mohamed Salah is in good scoring form, but Nunez will be a wildcard.
Over 2.5 total goals – Real Sociedad v Barcelona (3/5)
Barcelona are flying. The Catalans have scored 21 goals in their last five matches in all competitions with Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha all in exceptional form. There’s no reason to believe Hansi Flick’s team won’t continue in the same vein away to Real Sociedad this weekend.
La Real have struggled for consistent form in La Liga this season. This has been a particular problem at home where Imanol Alguacil’s team have won just one of their six games in the league. Barca could inflict some serious pain on yet another opponent having scored over two goals in each of their last seven outings.
Match to be a draw – West Ham v Everton (23/10)
This season has been a challenging one for both West Ham and Everton. Julen Lopetegui’s team are slumped in 14th place in the Premier League table while the Toffees have won just one of their last four games. Saturday’s match at the London Stadium could be a cagey encounter between two teams lacking confidence.
There has been under 2.5 goals in Everton’s last four league games while there has been under 2.5 goals in five of West Ham’s last six league home games against the team from Merseyside. Lopetegui and Sean Dyche both need a positive result, but they might have to settle for a share of the spoils.
Both teams to score – Brighton v Manchester City (13/25)
Manchester City enter Sunday’s match against Brighton on the back of three successive defeats. Pep Guardiola’s team have been harmed by injuries to several key players with Rodri their biggest miss in the centre of the pitch. City’s weakness in defensive transition could be something Brighton target.
The Seagulls have scored in all but one of their 10 league fixtures this season with Fabian Hurzeler’s team one of the most potent attacking outfits in the division at this moment in time. Brentford, Fulham, Wolves and Bournemouth have all caused City problems recently and Brighton probably will too.

Chelsea have the opportunity to inflict more pain on Arsenal who are now without a win in their last three Premier League games. Mikel Arteta’s team are struggling for attacking firepower right now having drawn a blank in their last two matches, although the return of Martin Odegaard from injury could help the Gunners.
Since losing 1-0 to Manchester City on opening weekend, Chelsea have scored in every home league game they have played. Cole Palmer is a doubt for Sunday’s match at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues could still have the attacking threat to get the better of their London rivals. Arsenal’s troubles might continue.
