NEWBURY

1:50

The Woodcorner (Sam Twiston-Davies)

He ran very well under a penalty at Huntingdon last time but is ready for a step up in trip and won’t have any issues with the ground. This is his first start in a Handicap and I quite like the idea of running 4 year-olds in races like this because it brings their weight down, and he’s not the biggest, so I’d like to think he’d be capable of running very well off his opening mark.

Fresh As A Daisy (James Bowen)

Having bred her myself, along with Sally Aston, she’s from a family we know well and one with lots of ability. This appears to be her trip and her work is always to a good standard so hopefully she can gain some valuable Black Type and put up a bold show.

Madam Speaker (Sean Bowen)

She’s a lovely filly but Derby winner, Harzand, who ran well on debut at Wincanton and would have learnt a lot from it. This is a typically competitive Sales Bumper, albeit a restricted one, but she receives a very handy age/sex allowance, which is great because had she won at Wincanton she’d be carrying a penalty. She has quite a handy flat pedigree and I’m looking forward to running her.

KELSO

Khrisma (Nico De Boinville)

She didn’t get into the County Hurdle so this race became the obvious objective because she qualified at Uttoxeter and it’s a very valuable prize.

We’ve always held her in quite high regard, and her work is to a very good standard.

She’s quite good.

Diamonds Galore (David Bass)

She’s still a Maiden but has run some very good races in defeat and I have no doubt she’ll be winning races sooner rather than later.

Good ground will suit and she very much comes into this from an each-way point of view.
