Player to score – Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth v Brighton)
Bournemouth have made a fast start to the season, winning two of their opening three fixtures, including an away game at Tottenham Hotspur before the international break. Antoine Semenyo has been a big part of that, having registered two goals and an assist in matches against Liverpool and Wolves.
The Cherries host Brighton on Saturday in a match that could swing either way – the Seagulls are fresh from defeating Manchester City. However, Fabian Hurzeler’s team have yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this season, and Semenyo will almost certainly have chances to notch again.
Under 2.5 total goals – Juventus v Inter Milan
The first Derby D’Italia of the season will reveal a lot about Juventus and Inter Milan. Both teams are uncertain about their Scudetto chances with Juve in the midst of a rebuild and Inter getting accustomed to a new manager in the shape of Cristian Chivu. Saturday’s match in Turin could be a cagey one.
Juve and Inter shared eight goals in a 4-4 draw last season, but that was something of an outlier. There has been under 2.5 goals in 12 of Juventus’ last 14 home matches against Inter in all competitions. There have also been under 2.5 goals in seven of the Old Lady’s last eight Serie A matches.
Match to be a draw – Crystal Palace v Sunderland
Crystal Palace and Sunderland both find themselves in the top half of the Premier League table ahead of Saturday’s meeting at Selhurst Park. Oliver Glasner has made clear his disgruntlement at Palace’s summer business, but the transfer window is now closed, and the Eagles can focus on enjoying another successful season.
The Black Cats have made a positive start after earning promotion to the Premier League, beating West Ham and Brentford. However, Crystal Palace are unbeaten in their last nine league games and will fancy their chances of continuing that run at home this weekend. This is a tough one to call.
Both teams to score – Barcelona v Valencia
Barcelona are defending Spanish champions and are unbeaten in 21 of their last 22 matches in La Liga. However, Hansi Flick’s team have a reputation for being one of the most chaotic outfits anywhere in European football, proven by the fact they have conceded goals to Levante and Rayo Vallecano so far this term.
Sunday will be Barca’s first home game of the season, but they still won’t be back at the Camp Nou which is undergoing redevelopment. Instead, they will host Valencia at the 6,000-capacity Johan Cruyff Stadium, with the visitors set to play on the counter. This could make them dangerous against Barca’s high line.
Graham’s Fourfold
Like the sound of Graham’s picks? Think they have legs? Why not roll them all into a fourfold? £10 on the selections above potentially returns £330.
Fancy it?
MANCHESTER CITY vs MANCHESTER UNITED
Sunday’s Manchester Derby has plenty riding on it for both Manchester City and Manchester United. The two rivals have suffered a difficult start to the season, winning just one of their opening three league fixtures. A negative result for either side this weekend would establish a gloomy narrative around them.
There has been over 2.5 goals in six of the last seven meetings between City and United at the Etihad Stadium, suggesting Sunday’s game could be an entertaining one. Bruno Fernandes will be United’s greatest attacking threat, especially if Matheus Cunha misses out, but the hosts look to have too much quality for their rivals.
