The Visit Qatar Sussex Stakes Group One is the feature on day two of the Qatar Goodwood Festival, and Field Of Gold is Unibet 1/3 on with Rosallion at Unibet 9/2 for Unibet Ambassador Richard Hannon.
Field Of Gold was brilliant at Royal Ascot when winning the St James’s Palace Stakes, and if he adapts to Goodwood, he is hard to oppose. However, Rosallion, who was just beaten a nose by Docklands at Royal Ascot in the Queen Anne Stakes, has so much ability and enthusiasm that he could make a mark here if the favourite doesn’t perform.
Enjoy whether at Goodwood or watching #athome on ITV Racing and Racing TV.
Cheers,
The Wine Tipster
1.20 Goodwood – Handicap (1m 4f)
Jupiter Ammon nearly won on handicap debut at Sandown on Eclipse Day when making most of the running over a mile and one furlong when only just losing out to Yabher’s late challenge. He certainly battled on in good style up the hill, and he would certainly benefit from another couple of furlongs. Jupiter Ammon will continue to progress at a handicap level and has claims to secure his first career victory.

1.55 Goodwood – Oak Tree Stakes Group 3 (7f)
Tabiti (nap) made her seasonal reappearance under a big weight in the Sandringham Stakes Handicap at Royal Ascot, giving the best part of a stone to the winner Never Let Go in the process, and unsurprisingly she weakened late on there, but still finished third, beaten two lengths. A factor here is that she may well have been aided by the draw and the first three home were drawn in 2,6, and 1, though visually it was still a very good effort and given a short break, this filly, who contested the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket last season, looks the one to beat.
Unibet 7/2 win
2:30 Goodwood – Molecomb Stakes Group 3 (5f)
Ameeq has a good attitude and is still learning his trade with each start. On his second appearance, he was still a bit green when winning a maiden at Nottingham at the start of June, but he took a big step forward when fourth at 100/1 to Charles Darwin in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot last time. He was travelling well and holding every chance two furlongs out when not done any favours by getting hit over the head late on by a rival’s whip. He still finished a very creditable fourth, and that was no fluke, so you can expect him to run well at a course that suits him.
Unibet 9/2 win
3.45 Goodwood – British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies’ Handicap (1m 2f)
Wisper won well at Windsor in June when beating Westbridge (winner of the Chesterfield Cup on Tuesday) by a length to score her first success in just over two years. She had nowhere to go on her last start when she tried to challenge two furlongs out at Southwell, and that run is best ignored. Most of the Wisper’s races have been over this distance, and this seven-year-old has to be in the mix.
