Player to score – Liam Delap (Benfica v Chelsea) 43/20

Liam Delap netted his first goal as a Chelsea player in the win over Esperance and the former Ipswich Town striker will keep his place in Enzo Maresca’s lineup due to Nicolas Jackson’s suspension. The 22-year-old already looks comfortable for his new team and will be a threat against Benfica.

Benfica have kept clean sheets in back-to-back games including a 1-0 win over Bayern Munich. Chelsea, however, will pose a threat through the likes of Delap and Pedro Neto who will surely come back into the lineup after only making the bench for the final group game against Esperance.

Over 3.5 total goals – PSG v Inter Miami (9/10)

Lionel Messi will come face-to-face with his former club as Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Miami clash for a place in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup. The South Floridians have exceeded expectations by getting out of the group stage, but a match against the European champions could be a step too far.

PSG have scored six goals in three games at the Club World Cup while Inter Miami have struggled defensively in MLS this year, also conceding twice against Palmeiras in their final group game. Messi could still make an impact on the match, but the French giants will almost certainly have too much firepower.

Match to go to penalties – Palmeiras v Botafogo (8/1)

Saturday’s round of 16 tie between Palmeiras and Botafogo could be one of the matches of the 2025 Club World Cup. The all-Brazilian encounter will see two domestic rivals meet for a place in the quarter-finals with spectacle guaranteed. However, it’s less guaranteed that the game itself will be attack-minded.

Botafogo like to sit deep and hit out on the break, as they did in the landmark win over PSG earlier in the tournament. Palmeiras are more attack-focused, but they can also play stodgy, conservative football and with so much on the line there’s a good chance this knockout tie will go the distance.

Both teams to score – Real Madrid v Juventus (5/6)

The standout tie of the round of 16 at the Club World Cup is the meeting between Real Madrid and Juventus on Tuesday. Xabi Alonso is still moulding his new team in his own image while Juve are looking to bounce back from their heavy 5-2 loss to Manchester City in their final group game on Thursday.

Real Madrid have scored six goals in their last two games at the Club World Cup while Juventus have been involved in three games that have produced 17 goals. It’s a solid bet that these two teams will hurt each other even if Los Blancos are the favourites to make the quarter-finals.

Flamengo have been the strongest of the Brazilian teams at the 2025 Club World Cup. Indeed, Filipe Luis’ team made a real statement by dismantling Chelsea in a 3-1 win during the group stage and could follow that up by shocking Bayern Munich this weekend to make the quarter-finals.

Bayern Munich have a perfect record of three wins from three games at the tournament so far, but have struggled in defensive transition. This is where the Brazilian league leaders could pose a threat with Flamengo also capable of holding their own in possession. There could be another upset.
